Enabling work at Helen Hadley Hall is underway. After thoughtful analysis and consideration, Yale decided to demolish the building at 420 Temple Street. The future development enabled by this project will significantly contribute to Yale’s academic growth and success, making way for an exciting new space for the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Considering campus life and our community
Beginning the week of May 5, the project team plans to alter access to the sidewalk and street in front of Helen Hadley Hall to enhance safety in the immediate area.
Beginning the week of May 19, the project team plans to start the demolition process, which will take several months and is weather contingent.
Pedestrian, cycle, and automobile access
Two travel lanes on Temple Street shift east, toward the opposite side of the road, and the pedestrian walk shifts into the southbound travel lane closest to Helen Hadley Hall. The parking lane closest to the sidewalk changes to an access lane for construction vehicles.
Once this new traffic pattern is established, it will remain through the completion of demolition in fall 2025.
Details may change as the project progresses. Stay tuned for updates.
